Gone FIsh'in

Tiruvottiyur is a small fishing village north of Chennai, where boats are docked and repaired. The boats are all made from giant logs that are cut, carved, crafted and repaired by had. No mechanical machinery is used in these villages. The tools of the trade are simply old school saws and chisels. During the tsunami all of the fishermen in this village lost their boats. Villagers slowly are rebuilding their fleet of boats, and with them their livelihood. Click on the photo for a slide show. Hope you enjoy.
